How website accessibility affects your SEO

Published on
April 25, 2021

This might sound like a boring subject, but after finding out Dominos Pizza got sued in the USA because their mobile app and website didn't comply with the WCAG(accessibility guidelines), we started paying attention.

And with over 15% of the world population having some form of disability, ensuring your website is accessible by everyone is not just good practice, but it also increases your potential market reach.

Now you might be wondering, how can I test my website's accessibility?

Well, here are the steps to test your own website, and feel like a fancy computer hacker too:

  1. Open your website using the Google Chrome Browser.
  2. Right Click inside your website and select the "inspect" element.

  3. Now select the LIGHTHOUSE tab in the top menu in developer tools.

  4. Next you can select either a mobile or desktop audit.
  5. Wait for 5 seconds.

If your website accessibility isn't up to par or you want someone to improve it for you, feel free to get in touch with us.
